'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a upcoming fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to manage and slow down a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a strong mentality and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a popular figure across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a bit naive going into men's football. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

His progress reflects that development for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I reached the point where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on London's Central line after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
