Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Dawn' for NYC in First Address
During an inauguration day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “transform” America's largest city, declaring “a different age” and an ambitious start to his term.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The 34-year-old political star, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first Muslim mayor. He additionally marked a milestone by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.

Mamdani ended his remarks with a simple declaration: “The work has only just begun.”
